Chablis Grand Cru Valmur 2009

Winemaker Tasting Notes: Valmur is one of the seven climats of the Chablis Grand Cru white wine appellation, located in the central section of the Grand Cru hillside. Valmur covers about 30 acres (12ha) of slopes, with its vines planted in the much-prized Kimmeridgian soil that is an essential ingredient of the Chablis terroir. It is located towards the top of the hillside, above the larger Les Clos to the east and Grenouilles to the west. The gently angular topography of Valmur means that its wines are less consistent than those of the other, flatter climats. While some Valmur wines are as complex and powerful as those from Les Clos, others – from the cooler parts of the vineyard – are more similar to the lighter wines of Blanchot
